Carson went in for his 4 month check up on the 23rd of March. he had to get more shots but he's doing good! he weighs almost 14 lbs and is 25 inches. He's eating his cereal really well now and loves to have tastes of mom and dads food. He REALLY likes lemonaide! haha
We celebrated Jakes birthday with my family last Sunday. for those of you who know my family we have a LOT of people. there's 12 kids each married with kids of their own so Sunday dinners are crazy! we celebrate birthdays at least once a month. March birthdays we had to break up because there are so many, we did half the beginning of the month and the second half the end of the month. they're aren't many in April so we combined Jake with the rest of march. It was a lot of fun! He got plenty of money to go golfing all summer so he's one happy camper!
Sunday afternoon Carson started coughing and it sounded a little horse so we knew he was catching something. by 10:00 Sunday night he could hardly breath, he sounded horrible and we were very nervous. we spent the night holding him on his stomach because it seemed to help open his airway. Monday he was a little better but not much. he was still pretty active so we decided not to take him to the doctor but by Monday night the same thing, we held him all night and had humidifiers going non stop to help him breath better, I gave him a bath so the warm water could help, while he was in the tub I noticed that with every breath his chest just completely caved and you could count all his ribs. He had to try so hard to get any air so we called the doctor and took him in. the doctor looked at him for a few minutes and told us to get to Primary Childrens as fast as we could he thinks he has RSV. by then I was a wreck! we got to the hospital and they took him straight back. there they gave him a dose of steriods and some other medicine to shrink the swelling in his throat to open it up so he can breath. He responded very well to the medication. the Doctor came in and said that he didn't have RSV he actually had croup. croup is very unusual in kids under 6 months. usually its toddlers that get it. its basically Laryngitis in adults but for a baby it almost completely closes off their airway and their little bodies can't handle it very well. they had us stay overnight so they could monitor him and give him more medication as needed. We're home now and the croup is gone! he's doing much much better. he now just has a cold. so we are very happy to have him feeling better. we still havent had much sleep but we'll gladly take that over having him be so sick.
